Most co-ordinators come from an events type background, so work organising big challenging events for companies and charities is useful, as is experience as a hotel ’wedding co-ordinator’. Personally, you will need to get to know the legal aspects, develop an encyclopaedic knowledge of wedding suppliers and also develop some very good business and marketing skills, as margins are notoriously tight in this industry. Your ability to get on well with the happy couple, their family and friends, and to inspire confidence in all you come in contact with will have to come as part of your own character!
